I reached out for help from the local Ombudsman when my Mom was in a nursing home about a year ago.
They were able to help the first couple of times I reached out,
but as things got worse for my Mom at the nursing home I couldn’t get the Ombudsman or the supervisor to return my calls anymore.
I was told by the Ombudsman that the nursing home my Mom was admitted to was not a facility that was reported to have any issues.
Upon further investigation I found the facility had lawsuits for elderly abuse on the CANHR website & had been on the SFF program list for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
I left several messages requesting a call back for help for the local Ombudsman, the supervisor, and the assistant.
I asked for counseling services too & never heard back from anyone.
I failed to help my Mom the way she needed & people who work here failed to do their job and help me advocate for her the way she needed.

My mother spoke briefly with a woman over a week ago and was supposed to get a call back. She has since left two messages to try to get services. I have left two messages as well. The response time is the opposite of helpful. Still waiting...

The HICAP Medicare team assisted me with a major billing issue. I was impressed by the knowledge and expertise of the HICAP team in the successful resolution of this matter. I am now a part of the Ombudsman team (resident advocates) and am grateful to assist those living in skilled nursing and residential care facilities! Thank you for all that you do and how much you give back to the community!

The staff we have encountered has been absolutely amazing , everyone from the person answering the phone to assessment person Myra. Very professional, understanding and supportive. Without the respite care that Valley caregiver provided it would have been almost impossible to make doctor appointments, get groceries and run household errands. Thank you for VCR for everything you do for people.

I have been a caregiver for over 30 years. I learned of Valley Caregiver Resource only 3 years ago, from a dear friend. I appreciate the help and genuine care and guidance I have received in this time. The classes are full of information and there is personal interest in every client. The support of staff and being in groups of other caregivers has given me strength and encouragement that usually comes when I most need it. They stress the need for caregivers to take care of themselves in order to be the best they can be! Something most of us neglect, thinking it is selfish and takes time and energy away from those in their care. Big mistake! The respite help from the center is so appreciated from my heart! I try to share this resource to all I come across who are in the same situation of caregiving.

I was a caregiver for my mother, my aunt and lastly, my husband. I received services from VCR and it was truly a lifesaver for me. Anyone who is has been a caregiver for a loved one knows how difficult and stressful it can be. The services they provided helped me keep my sanity!

Absolutely horrendous service and terribly rude staff. A supervisor named Susan B is unable to articulate what her services are or how she can provide assistance to a family with an elderly person at risk. By the tone and vocabulary used Susan B is uneducated and uninformed on what her volunteer position entails. She will not provide any help when I have an elderly person at risk and I was told that I should call the police but they won’t help me either. I’m disgusted and saddened that this is a service put in place to help those in need and they won’t help and shame you for calling.
