I sooo love NAMI! I’ve been volunteering with them as a group Facilitator for a few years now and I always use them as a resource to my clients and/or anyone, I feel who can benefit. A lot of times, it can be extremely difficult to navigate all of aspects of mental health and mental illness. As a person who never really understood the complexities of mental illness and what it looks like and how it could manifest in adults, this organization has given me great insight. NAMI is a well-lead, much-needed organization that provides more resources than I could possibly list for mental health, including peer-led information and support, courses, an endless pocket of other resources, online information, opps to volunteer, and many other ways to pitch in and help others. NAMI is a resource that you don't realize you needed until you've stumbled into one of their many resources. And time and again you hear the same realization, "why didn't I find them sooner." NAMI is a wealth of knowledge and best practices to help you get to and then keep you in recovery. Social support is so important to the whole process, for the person with a mental illness AND for their family members to help them.

NAMI Greater Houston is AMAZING! They provide free support groups and education classes. And honestly care about the people they help. If you're affected by mental illness in any way, I highly recommend giving them a call.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness is a much-needed community resource. With free educational programs, families of those who are afflicted with mental illness as well as the clients and selves can learn valuable information about living with mental illnesses. They offer a wide variety of free educational programs which can be held all over the Greater Houston area. Perhaps one of the most valuable resources I have ever found.

First, no matter what time a person calls this place, no one ever answers or returns a call. Have called numerous times, left messages, and yet after 3 months, have not heard back from this place. If a person is depressed, suicidal, what’s left if they’re dependent on a phone call from this place?

Decided to sit by the building on a bench on a Saturday while waiting for my car to get done half a mile away. The security guard came out and said I cannot sit here. Horrible place no matter what it does. Happened on 3/4/2023 at 9:25 am
